We have a Winner(s)!!!!!

Fifth grade this year was required to do a science fair project...which isn't a problem because Jedi loves science and wants to do one every year anyway.  This year he and his buddy teamed up to do one. 
Jedi really wanted to do something with bridges he just thought that sounded fun.  So they agreed to build two different bridges of different structures to see which bridge could hold more weight.  Well they made it to district.  Keep in mind the only help that we offered in this project was our home materials and pictures they did the rest with their own imaginations.  I was so proud of them.
Here is bridge one this is the friends.  He decided to use craft sticks for his.

This one is the one Jedi built his was made from wooden dowls crafts sticks and yarn as an underneath support.

Here are the results.  To my surprise Jedi's help up until the last test a GINORMOUS flashlight!  It definitely had more sway than an all wood bridge but it still held up pretty well.

This is the "not cheap plastic award" {Jedis words} He is pretty sure it is real :).   We are so proud of him. 

K.bug and her friend also entered the science fair for extra credit {yep she is still obsessed with her grades}  They took 3 different types of bread and made three different enviroments for them; 1. air  2. water doused 3. air tight baggie
Interestingly enough the air tight baggie breads molded faster than the rest with the exception of Sour Dough which didn't mold in either environment for the two weeks. 
They didn't get an award, but they scored high in points.  Such smarty kids we have created so proud of them!
